McPheeters Family Scholarship

Lynn McPheeters was raised on a farm near Canton, Illinois in Fulton County. After graduating from high school, he attended Canton Jr. College, now Spoon River College. He transferred to Southern Illinois University Carbondale and graduated in 1964 with a B.S. in Accounting. He was the first generation in his family to attend college. He went to work for Caterpillar where he had a 40-year career that culminated with retirement in 2005 as VP and Chief Financial Officer of the company. This scholarship has been endowed to provide opportunities for first-generation students from his hometown area that want to pursue a business education.

• Scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student in the College of Business and Analytics who is a first-generation college student.
• Preference is given to students from Fulton, Peoria, Tazewell, Mason, and Marion counties, although students from south of I-80 will also be considered.
