Mauri Banycky Norman, Susan Banycky Norman, and Harry Banycky II

This fund is established in memory of Harry & Helen Banycky, of Carterville, Illinois. Harry & Helen were lifelong educators, volunteers, and SIU Alumni members. They met while obtaining their degrees at SIU. Harry was a guidance counselor, Physical Education/Health teacher, and coached football, track, and golf. Helen taught at both the elementary and high school levels.

Harry & Helen Banycky believed education and a strong work ethic were the cornerstones to success. They opened their home, hearts, and wallet to students to help them continue their education, and they always saw potential where others only saw problems. Through their teaching, nurturing, and coaching, Harry & Helen changed the lives of many students in Carterville, and left a legacy of devotion to education. Their children set up this endowment to honor their parents for making a difference for so many students.
