Charlotte West, Ph.D.

Dr. Charlotte West served as Director of Athletics for women at Southern Illinois University Carbondale from 1960-1986. In her final year at SIU, she was named Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Administrator of the Year. Following her time at SIU, she served on several NCAA committees. She was also a part of the US Olympic Committee in 1978, the Director of National Championships for the AIAW in 1975, and named AIAW president in 1978. More recently in 2014, Dr. West was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame for her tireless work in the development of Title IX.
