Dr. Eleanor J. Bushee

Dr. Eleanor Bushee established the Eleanor Bushee Award for Dental Hygiene to benefit students in the Dental Hygiene program at SIU Carbondale. Dr. Bushee graduated from Northwestern Dental School in 1944. After 15 years in private practice, she entered the academic world. She attained the rank of Professor of Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics as well as Assistant Dean for Administration at Southern Illinois University of Dental Medicine. Dr. Bushee wrote a book, several publications, and lectured on numerous topics. She also attained her single engine pilot’s license and was an avid outdoor woman.
