Dr. James A. Diefenbeck

Dr. James. A. “Pete” Diefenbeck was a former SIU Carbondale philosophy professor. Dr. Diefenbeck received his Ph.D. from Harvard and came to SIU after serving as a fighter pilot during World War II. He specialized in the history of philosophy. This memorial endowment will serve as a permanent reminder of Dr. Diefenbeck’s generosity and commitment to SIU, the Department of Philosophy, and its students.
