F. Gordon Berry, Ph.D.

Benton K. Berry was a 1956 graduate in Physics. After brief service in the Army, he attended Purdue University on a military scholarship, then worked for NASA at the Redstone Arsenal. While there, he assisted in developing the heat shield for the Apollo spacecraft. He died at an early age in 1964. Many members of the Berry family have attended SIU, and his brother, Gordon Berry, is establishing this endowment in memory of him.
