The Phil and Marion Olsson Scholarship in Music was established to provide support for students within the School of Music. Dr. Phillip Olsson served as Assistant Dean of the School of Fine Arts, as chairman of the Advisory Committee governing the Department of Music, and as Acting Dean during the sabbatical leave and illness of Dean Burnett Shryock Jr. He later became dean of the new College of Communications and Fine Arts and Director of the School of Music. He retired in 1982.
