John & Eleanor Mitchell Foundation

The Mitchell Foundation was established in 1965 to build the Mitchell Museum at Cedarhurst, the basis of which was the extensive art collection of John and Eleanor Mitchell. The John R. and Eleanor R. Mitchell Foundation Scholarship was later created by the Trustees of the Foundation to provide support for students in the School of Fine Arts at SIU Carbondale.
