L. Sherwood Minckler

This fund is being established in memory of Leon S. Minckler, Ph.D. by his son, L. Sherwood Minckler, of Oak Harbor, Washington. Dr.Minckler was a devoted father and a dedicated professional research forester. He was a professor of forestry at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, the leading authority on the management of southern hardwood forests and an ecologist before most knew the meaning of the word. During his long career, Dr. Minckler published more than 175 scientific papers and authored the book “Woodland Ecology.” Dr. Minckler passed away on January 1, 2002.
