Mrs. Gloria Stokes and the family and friends of Robert "Rip" Stokes

Robert “Rip” Stokes was an iconic Saluki who spent 32 years as the university’s photographer and later became the director of Photographic Services. One of Rip’s most famous photographs was featured in Life magazine in 1956. A terrier escaped its leash and latched onto the end of a trumpet that belonged to a member of the Marching
Salukis.

Rip Stokes’ family and the SIU Mass Communication and Media Arts Cinema and Photography Department have developed this fund in Rip’s memory for a photography student at SIU.
