Ms. Cecelia H. Norris and the Muckelroy Family
This fund was established in honor of Professor Renzo E. Muckelroy. Professor Muckelroy was a 1903 graduate of Southern Illinois Normal University (SINU) and was head of Southern’s Department of Agriculture from its organization in 1913 until his retirement in 1945. Hired as SINU’s first teacher of agriculture in 1911, he was responsible for organizing and building the department that eventually became the School of Agriculture. He was also a noted public speaker and lecturer, representing the university across the state and the region; his area of expertise was in animal husbandry, with a particular interest in stock-breeding of poultry and dairy cows.
