Rosemary and Bill Cornell

Rosemary and Bill Cornell met and married in their native England, before coming to America, Southern Illinois University and Carbondale, Illinois as newlyweds. Bill came as an already well known distance runner, to attend SIU for his undergraduate and master’s degrees and became a distinguished member of the SIU Track Team. Bill went on to become a legendary track coach at Murray State and SIU, where with Rosemary by his side, they became a team that enhanced the lives of their student athletes. In recognition of Rosemary and Bill’s love of SIU, of student and those who follow the path of distance running and physical education, this endowed scholarship has been established.
