Keith and Carol Sanders Alumni Scholarship

The Keith and Carol Sanders Alumni Scholarship is designed to encourage high-achieving, low-income students from Benton Consolidated High School in Benton, Illinois to attend Southern Illinois University Carbondale, especially if they are from an alumni family.

• Scholarship for an incoming freshman from Benton Consolidated High School. If no students from Benton Consolidated High School are eligible, then students from Franklin County, Illinois, may be considered.

• Recipient must be in the top 40% of their high school class and must provide three (3) letters of recommendation from persons of authority at their high school.

• Preference shall be given to qualified candidates who are from an alumni family. An alumni family is defined as one in which the candidate has a mother, father, sister, brother, or spouse who has graduated from SIU Carbondale or any other family member, provided the applicant has a strong letter of recommendation from the family member who is an alumnus.

• Scholarship is automatically renewable for an additional academic year (total of 4 consecutive semesters) as long as recipient maintains a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and full-time status.
