Christine Thomas Memorial Architectural Study Abroad Scholarship

The Christine Thomas Memorial Architectural Study Abroad Scholarship was created in honor of one of our own extraordinary School of Architecture Graduates, Christine Thomas (’21) who regrettably was killed in a plane crash during the summer just months after her Spring graduation. Those who interacted with her knew Christine as being a wonderful person with an incredibly inquisitive mind and an eagerness to pursue multiple paths toward knowledge and beauty.

While a student here in our Graduate Architecture program, her work was always performed well beyond expectations, often seeking additional levels of inquiry and aesthetics. She was a talented designer and an extraordinary architect in the making. She developed a strong network of friends and colleagues while in our program. Working with architects, she was also finishing her exams toward professional licensure. Significant to this scholarship, Christine had very worked hard in 2020 to help plan and form an architectural study abroad cohort to Florence, which had been abruptly cancelled due to the pandemic. She loved travel and adventure as one of the best forms of learning about the world. With this, we lost much too early one of our most promising and talented graduates in architecture. It was an honor and privilege to have been in her association.
