Billy Neil Carr Scholarship

The Billy Neil Carr Scholarship was established in memory of Billy Neil Carr, who earned a Bachelor’s (1950) and a Master’s (1951) degree in Math at SIU. Billy was an outstanding self-taught saxophone player who performed professionally in dance bands during college. He had a long career as a mathematician with IBM, but continued to perform avocationally until age 80 in community bands, jazz bands, wind ensembles and pit bands in all the cities in which he lived.
