Sheryl King Equine Science Scholarship

The Sheryl King Equine Science Scholarship was established in 2012 by the Dean and the Associate Dean of the College of Agricultural Sciences to honor the distinguished service of Dr. Sheryl King, Equine Science professor, who will retire with 29 years of service in June, 2012. During her career at SIU, Dr. King was recognized for Outstanding Service and Outstanding Scholar in the College of Agricultural Sciences. She recently became a Fellow in the prestigious Equine Science Society and serves as the Horsemen’s Council of Illinois Board of Directors, President.

Scholarship for a student with the following qualifications:

  1. Major declared in the School of Agricultural Sciences.
  2. Demonstrated involvement with horses. For example but not limited to: job experience, horse competition, or horse ownership.
  3. Minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale for incoming freshman or a minimum 3.0 transfer grade point average or a minimum 3.0 SIU grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
  4. Preference given to students in the Equine Science specialization.
