McDaniel Oats Memorial Scholarship

The McDaniel Oats Memorial Scholarship was established to enhance the accessibility and achievement of traditionally underrepresented racial/ethnic minority students who have demonstrated financial need. This scholarship honors Zenetta’s two grandmothers who exemplified a life of courage and strength to overcome compelling social, cultural, economic and educational barriers. McDaniel and Oats both retired from SIU as civil service employees.

• Scholarship for a student majoring in Special Education, with demonstrated financial need, who is from one of the following Illinois counties:
  • Alexander, Bond, Clay, Clinton, Crawford, Edwards, Effingham, Fayette, Franklin, Gallatin, Hamilton, Hardin, Jackson, Jasper, Jefferson, Johnson, Lawrence, Madison, Marion, Massac, Monroe, Perry, Pope, Pulaski, Randolph, Richland, Saline, St. Clair, Union, Wabash, Washington, Wayne, White, Williamson.
