Myrl and Lorene Alexander Fellowship
The Myrl and Lorene Alexander Fellowship offers fellowship awards for the purpose of supporting research activities and professional travel by graduate students who are currently enrolled and making satisfactory progress in the graduate programs in Criminology & Criminal Justice. Students must also show high potential for scholarship. Priority will be given to students who exhibit a potential for contributing to the field of corrections in the United States.
- Students requesting support for research activity must submit a written proposal of two pages or less describing the research. The written proposal must also include a budget describing how the requested money will be spent.
- Acceptable costs include, but are not limited to, paper, printing, postage, long distance telephone calls, travel, and the purchase of research related items not ordinarily available: data, computer software, computer peripherals, and books/periodicals. Some purchased materials may remain the property of SIU Carbondale.
- Fellowship awards are not given for research related costs normally covered by grants or departmental resources. Fellowship awards are not given to compensate students responsible for directing the research.
- Any request for funding or research activity must be accompanied by a letter of recommendation by a department faculty member who is either supervising the research or is an advisor.
