Calvin and Nancy Gillespie Memorial Scholarship in Strings or Guitar

The Calvin and Nancy Gillespie Memorial Scholarship in Strings or Guitar was established in memory of Calvin and Nancy Gillespie by their friend, Ms. Imogene Beckemeyer. Calvin was a great music lover. He played the trombone and in his later years played the guitar with great energy. His wife of almost sixty years, Nancy, was also a lifelong music enthusiast. She was a pianist and enjoyed many years of singing with the Choral Union. As a member and office holder in both the Morning Etude Club and the Community Concerts Board, she worked to bring artists from all over the world to perform here in southern Illinois and also to support the efforts of local artist as they performed here at home and all over the world.

The Calvin and Nancy Gillespie Memorial Scholarship Endowment in Strings or Guitar will serve as a reminder of how special Calvin and Nancy were to their friends and family, their love of music, and their love of life in southern Illinois.
