In order to qualify for this competitive scholarship, a student must be an undergraduate Political Science major with a serious interest in public law.
Students must have completed at least 15 hours of Political Science courses at SIU Carbondale with a GPA of 3.5 and a total of sixty (60) credit hours of course work with an overall GPA of 3.0 or better.
To demonstrate an interest in public law, at least 6 hours of Political Science courses must come from the following list: POLS 333A/B Constitutional Law, POLS 435 Judicial Process and Behavior, POLS 436 Administrative Law, POLS 437 Jurisprudence, or POLS 475 International Law. Students must have received no lower than a B in these courses.
Applicant must have completed at least one year of a modern foreign language.
The awards committee will give additional consideration to samples of written work in one of the fields listed above and to an evaluation of the work by a faculty member in the Department of Political Science.
