Lida Lisenby Taylor Future Educator Scholarship
Lida Lisenby Taylor was a lifelong resident of Tamaroa, Illinois. She graduated from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 1942. She began her teaching career in Tamaroa schools and continued at Du Quoin High School where she taught Latin and English, until her retirement in 1968.
Mrs. Taylor was a member of the First Christian Church of Du Quoin as well as the Retired Teachers Association of both Perry and Jefferson counties. Throughout her lifetime, she maintained her passion for students and for educational assistance. She had high standards for those on both sides of the desk – students and educators. That passion and commitment are being honored through the establishment of the Future Educator Scholarship which is meant to encourage graduates of Du Quoin High School, Pinckneyville High School, or Tamaroa Grade School to pursue a career in the field of education.
