Recipient(s) must be in good standing with the University and the School of Music and must be a Music Composition Major or Minor.
The original composition may consist of a solo or group (vocal or instrumental) and must be copyrighted.
When planning to submit a composition for the Award consideration, students should notify the composition faculty of their intention to enter the competition and line up the performer(s) to record the work, if possible (this may not be possible with orchestral, band or choral works). Multiple scores should be available for the judges (the composition faculty should be able to guide the composer in this endeavor).
Compositions must be turned in by January (first week of school) along with several copies of the composition. MIDI or CD should also accompany the copies of the composition.
